Day 18 of 30: New School Year

DAY 18 OF 30!
TIGHT BODY 30 DAY CHALLENGE!
School is right around the corner. For many of us, this means we're busy getting our kids ready for the new school year. Today, let's focus on getting things in place, whether it's you, or your kids, heading back to school. If no one is going back to school at your place, then simply, simplify your household.

WHERE DO I START?

CLOTHING

A good place to start is clothing. Find out what fits, what has holes, what's hand-me-downable, what's to donate or give to a friend, and what goes in the trash. It's always refreshing to clean out your drawers, tedious at times, but when the job is done, it has a way of decluttering the mind, as well.

CLOSETS

Next, hit the closets, yes, every closet in the house. Separate each item as previously mentioned. It's amazing what can be found in a closet. If you're like me, going through closets alone could take half the day! When you get to the kitchen, think about what's been sitting way too long. Discard items you know you haven't used in over a year, unless you feel they'll make good food storage. It's a good time to take inventory of what you have, what you'd like to restock with, such as easy to prepare but nutritious items, and how you plan to store and rotate them.

SUPPLIES

Gather all your supplies in one area, load backpacks, etc. If your not going back to school, look at this exercise as preparing for an emergency. Gather your supplies, and load your backpack. Remember, you might have to actually carry the backpack for a length of time, so be realistic when packing it.

SCHEDULE

For many, the new school year brings with it a new schedule for everyone. Be sure you have a schedule of your own, know when you're going to exercise, shop, prep meals, etc., so you can stay on track and complete your 30 DAY CHALLENGE!, successfully. Also, it's helpful to make teeth cleaning appointments, yearly exams, etc., at the same time and put them on your calendar, at the beginning of the school year, before you're too busy with activities, homework, family, and other responsibilities.

SPIRITUAL

Not everyone is 'religious', but some find it helpful to get a 'Blessing', say a special prayer, or simply take time to meditate prior to beginning the new school year. As you contemplate the year ahead, visualize what you'd like to see yourself accomplishing in the next nine months. Be sure to write your goals down, they're important, and hold yourself accountable to them.

SUMMER PARTY

There's always something to celebrate, why not celebrate the end of summer,  new school year with a party? Invite your close friends, whomever, hold it outdoors, music, BBQ, games, and make it a fun occasion!

Happy DAY 18!
